At 9 p.m. this week, crews start closing two lanes of Harmon Avenue for track lighting. They leave one lane open in each direction and hand the street back at 6 a.m. At midnight on weekdays through October 30, crews also close three lanes of Las Vegas Boulevard for lighting work and reopen them at 9 a.m. From November 9 to 13, the barrier crews keep three Boulevard lanes closed from midnight until noon. The race is still three weeks away, and the corner outside CityCenter is already working on its schedule.
The 3.8-mile, 17-turn street circuit runs on South Las Vegas Boulevard, Harmon Avenue, Koval Lane and Sands Avenue. Two of those four streets meet at the towers' doorstep. The official transportation plan splits the season into three phases. Build runs August 31 through November 15. Race week runs from 12 a.m. on November 16 to 6 a.m. on November 23. Dismantling runs November 23 through December 23. The three race nights, November 19 to 21, take up only a small part of that window. The rest of the closures run at night or in the morning, and they follow a published plan.
The corner's calendar, from tonight to December
All of these dates come from the 2026 preliminary traffic management charts, which the organizers update as work moves along.
| Dates | Where | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Through Oct. 30 | Harmon Avenue | Two lanes closed 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sun. to Fri., one lane open each way, all lanes open in daytime |
| Through Oct. 30 | Las Vegas Boulevard | Three lanes closed midnight to 9 a.m., Mon. to Fri., for lighting work |
| Nov. 9 to 13 | Las Vegas Boulevard | Three lanes closed midnight to noon for barrier work, one lane open each way |
| Through Nov. 9 | Boulevard at Bellagio | Two southbound lanes and the sidewalk closed for Fountain Club work |
| Nov. 5 to 9 | Planet Hollywood to Cosmopolitan bridge | Closed 12 a.m. to 9 a.m. |
| Nov. 10 | Harmon Avenue | Two lanes closed 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for advertising and gantry installation |
| Nov. 11 to 13 | Bellagio to Horseshoe bridge, Harmon Shops to Harmon SE corner bridge | Closed 12 a.m. to 9 a.m. |
| From Nov. 14 | Koval Lane at the pit building | Full closure, all hours |

| Nov. 23 to 25 | Las Vegas Boulevard | Two lanes closed around the clock, one lane open each way |
| Through Dec. 23 | Circuit | Dismantling |
The Koval closure is listed with two different end dates. One chart shows Koval from Rochelle to Harmon closed November 14 to 23 at all hours. The overall schedule shows Koval closed at the pit building November 14 to 25. Koval matters to this corner because the start/finish line and pit building sit at Grand Prix Plaza, where Harmon meets Koval. East of the Boulevard, Harmon ends at the plaza.
Before race week, the closures follow work hours
Nearly every build-phase closure on the chart avoids the afternoon and evening. The Harmon work runs from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and leaves every lane open during the day. The Boulevard lighting closures end at 9 a.m. on weekdays, and the barrier closures from November 9 to 13 end at noon. The pedestrian bridge closures run midnight to 9 a.m. For anyone living at Harmon and the Boulevard, the next three weeks are mostly about mornings. On the Boulevard, a weekday drive out early in the morning meets reduced lanes. The same drive after lunch meets the normal road.
The bridge nights are the exception for anyone who walks home late. From November 5 to 9, the Planet Hollywood to Cosmopolitan bridge closes from 12 a.m. to 9 a.m. From November 11 to 13, the Bellagio to Horseshoe bridge and the Harmon Shops to Harmon southeast corner bridge close for the same hours. Those three bridges carry foot traffic across the Boulevard near CityCenter, and each closes for no more than five nights.
During race week, 1 p.m. is the hour that matters
When race week starts, the timing turns around. The official F1 guide lists these track and road closures:
- Wednesday, November 18: closed 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m., then again from 8 p.m. until 3 a.m. Thursday.
- Thursday, November 19: closed from 1 p.m., reopening at 12:30 a.m.
- Friday, November 20: closed from 1 p.m., reopening at 12:01 a.m.
- Saturday, November 21: closed from 1 p.m., reopening at 2 a.m. Sunday.
The guide's reopening entries carry mismatched date labels. The times read as early-morning reopenings after each night's sessions. The LVGP transportation hub posts daily race-week updates, and the hub's homepage offers weekly text alerts to anyone who texts F1LV to 31996.
The 1 p.m. closing comes hours before the cars run. On Thursday, the first practice starts at 4:30 p.m. and the second practice at 8 p.m. On Friday, the third practice starts at 4:30 p.m. and qualifying at 8 p.m. The race starts at 8 p.m. Saturday. All times are Pacific Standard Time. The transportation hub defines "hot track" this way:
Circuit is fully closed. Track barriers and fencing is placed across multiple openings that support public use of and property access to the public roadways within the circuit when the track is not in active use.
In practice, an afternoon appointment off the Strip on any of the three race days means leaving before 1 p.m. or waiting until after midnight. The F1 guide suggests walking from nearby hotels and using the F1 app for walking routes and live road openings and closures. It also notes that parking around and inside the circuit is limited. Designated rideshare pick-up and drop-off points are at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, Howard Hughes Center, Tuscany and Park MGM. Park MGM is the closest of those to CityCenter.
The race week within walking distance
With driving limited for that week, the program that matters most to a Veer Towers resident is the one reachable on foot. MGM Resorts' October 21 announcement names an "MGM Zone" across Bellagio, ARIA, The Cosmopolitan and Park MGM, with race-week events running November 16 to 22. These are the items open to the public:
- TGR Haas F1 Team show car, The Cosmopolitan: on Level 2 of the Chelsea Tower November 16 to 22, accessible around the clock. A first-come, first-served team meet-and-greet is set for Wednesday, November 18, with the time still to be announced.
- The Smooth Operator Lounge, ARIA: Proper Eats becomes a lounge built around Carlos Sainz, with custom apparel, signature cocktails and an appearance by the driver. Easy's Cocktail Lounge next door adds live music.
- The Auction by Google Play, Iris at ARIA: free, open noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and noon to 5 p.m. Friday, ending with a live auction Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. General admission depends on availability.
- Shoey Bar, Bellagio: November 19 to 21, open from noon until late for the public. The first hour, 11 a.m. to noon, is reserved for eligible MGM Rewards members.
- The Paddock Journal and Lytedust pop-up, Bellagio Promenade: free, November 19 to 22, open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
- Ferrari Boutique, Bellagio: race-weekend and one-of-one apparel, open daily 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Pepsi Flavor Circuit, 3758 Las Vegas Boulevard next to Park MGM: bites from local restaurants, November 19 from 1 to 8 p.m. and November 20 to 21 from noon to 8 p.m.
- Olivia Tiedemann at Scarpetta, The Cosmopolitan: a one-night dinner on Friday, November 20, with ticketing details still to come.
Several of these start around the same time the circuit closes. The Pepsi Flavor Circuit opens at noon on Friday and Saturday, and Shoey Bar opens to the public at noon. Both sit inside the walk from CityCenter. One event is not a walk-in. The Cosmopolitan's Boulevard Party Deck, with race coverage November 20 and 21 from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., is only open to guests who book a two-night hotel package.
After the checkered flag, the morning closures return
Race week formally ends at 6 a.m. on November 23, and the corner goes back to work hours almost right away. From midnight November 23 to midnight November 25, two Boulevard lanes stay closed around the clock, with one lane open in each direction. Sands Avenue is restricted around the clock from 9 p.m. November 22 to 9 p.m. November 25. Thanksgiving falls on November 26, the day after those closures end. Dismantling then continues through December 23, so the last of the work at Harmon and the Boulevard should be finished a month after the race.
From November 16 at 12 a.m. to November 23 at 6 a.m., hour-by-hour changes come out through the LVGP transportation hub. The full race schedule is on the official Las Vegas Grand Prix site.
